HS Band Concert
Thursday, December 6
Free admission, general seating
If you are looking for a great way to get into the holiday spirit, come join the high school band on Thursday night, December 6, for their annual winter concert!
The concert begins at 7:30PM in the high school auditorium and should last approximately one hour. Admission is free and general seating.
The band will play a wide variety of pieces- some traditional holiday favorites (arrangements of Jingle Bells, medley of carols, Auld Lang Syne)
as well as some new, original pieces for band (one of which includes the senior handbell choir of Trinity Lutheran Church, Robesonia), and an older original piece for band that features our trombone section (Lassus Trombone)
The touring brass ensemble will also perform 3 jazzy arrangements of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Silent Night, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
The concert will conclude with Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride (made famous by the Boston Pops).
The phenomenal thing about music education in a public school is that the 60 kids on our roster DO NOT all plan to major in music after college. They will become accountants, scientists, lawyers, mechanics, and much more, but their lives will be enriched because of having an appreciation of art and music. Across the wide array of interests and extracurricular pursuits, these 60 kids are bonded by the common love of and desire to play music. That’s pretty cool!
If you have any questions, or would like more information, don’t hesitate to email. I’ve also attached a poster with all the winter concerts of the music department. We hope to see you Thursday night, or at a concert in another building!
